Quaker Meeting House

6800 Concession Road 6

The oldest building in Uxbridge Township, dating back to 1820, is the present board and batten meeting house. Originally divided into separate areas for men and women, it underwent renovations in 1881, creating a small Sunday School area. The west door and window on the South wall were also switched during this time, altering the building's symmetry. The hand-hewn pine pews were crafted with open backs for women's bustles and closed backs for men. Lighting was primarily provided by a central brass lamp and perimeter coal lamps, while heat was once supplied by a wood stove. In 1995, the building was raised and fitted with a concrete block foundation.
