Toronto Regional Real Estate Board – Market Stats At A Glance – April 2023
*Some values may vary slightly based on the exact date and time the reports were generated.
Buyers are actively out looking to buy but with the lack of new listings buyers are having to compete for properties. Because of this competition we are seeing an increase in the number of properties coming to the market with offer dates. This is increasing the number of properties selling at or above asking price again and without conditions.

The Gould-Carmody House located at the Uxbridge Historical Centre
The Gould-Carmody house was built in the late 1850’s by Joseph Gould, the first local MPP who had a major influence on the growth and success of Uxbridge. The house stayed in the Gould family until it was sold to William Carmody in 1914.
The house and farm where located just north of Uxbridge Arena and at the west end of Maple Street (my childhood neighbourhood). As a kid this was the edge of town. In 1988 the house was moved to the Uxbridge Historical Centre to its present location to make room for the present day Quaker Village subdivision.

The Ontario Hall
In the 1850’s the hamlet of Uxbridge saw a large population expansion. Thus, a place for citizens to come together for meetings, socializing, entertaining and for business arose. Around 1865 a piece of land was leased where the present building now stands and the Ontario Hall was erected. In 1893 the Ontario Hall was destroyed by fire.

Uxbridge Music Hall
On October 19, 1901 the corner stone was laid for the new building and on December 19th of the same year the Music Hall had its grand opening.
The bricks of the new hall were poured in Greenbank and while they where drying some cats left their mark in some bricks. If you look closely some of the bricks above the corner stone on the right of the front door have cat paws imprints.
Today the Music Hall is a well known local landmark and is a thriving cultural centre often used for live theatre and concerts.
